SANTIAGO. The first line of the cable car of this city was opened to the public this morning and free of charge, where dozens of people from the province were seen boarding this transport inaugurated yesterday by President Luis Abinader.
The project, which is part of the Integrated Transportation System and was built with an investment of RD$ 6,544 million, will have a direct impact on approximately 74,000 inhabitants of nine of the most populated sectors of the city.
The first line of this city's cable car has four stations, the first or central station on Las Carreras Avenue, the second station is Emiliano Tardif, near the Hermanos Patiño bridge, the third station is named after the late first lady Renee Klang Guzmán, in Bella Vista, and the fourth station, named after the late professor Yolanda Santana, culminates in the Yagüita de Pastor sector.
The trip, in both directions, takes 15 minutes, which was verified by reporters from this newspaper who boarded one of the 83 cabins of the cable car this morning.

Some of the users consulted said they were happy and pleased with the start-up of the air mass transportation service, which among its objectives is to relieve traffic congestion here.
It also seeks the physical, technological and fare integration of different means of public transportation to contribute to improving the quality of life of the city's inhabitants, as well as to develop sustainable mobility alternatives that reduce the impact on the environment.
